Like many new talents, Gilly cut her gums on Vaudeville; particularly,
slapstick humor.  Her toe-stubbing routine won acclaim from Tallahassee to
Toronto and all bus stops in between.  She was especially popular in the
Branson circuit, where she is remembered as "better than Smirnov
!" and
"now, free!** "
