A discussion one night between Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, and Al
Pacino reached a crescendo in Gilly’s favorite Manhattan library.
The actors could not agree on the saddest thing in the world. One
suggested it was saying goodbye to a favorite pet, another suggested it
was seeing the end of a career, and the other believed it was not having
enough lipstick packed for a world tour.
The commotion bothered Gilly and she approached the colleagues.
“This”, she said pulling out her blanket, “is sadness”.
